Parents are shocked by what has caused the massive decay of this child's tooth
Some time ago, small children were visiting their dentists for a simple routine cleaning, but nowadays, children consume a huge amount of sugar.

This leaves them with tooth decay problems, and their rotten teeth need to be removed.

Recently, a 3-year-old boy in New Zealand who consumed excessive amounts of sugar had to undergo 11 tooth extractions. Your dentist, Dr. Rob Beaglehole, said the boy's straw glass was full of soda.

However, this is not just a New Zealand problem. According to the American Heart Association, women should consume no more than 6 teaspoons of sugar, and men no more than 9 teaspoons per day.

For example, about 20 ml. Coca-Cola contains 15 teaspoons of sugar, so if you drink one today, you consume twice the recommended amount of sugar.

Research has shown that the amount of sugar consumed by the average American daily is 23 teaspoons, which is triple the amount recommended for men and quadruple the recommended amount for women.

In addition, Appalachia, the area stretching from southern New York to Alabama, also noted a problem with sugar consumption due to the ingestion of soft drinks, which lead to an alarming number of cases of tooth erosion.

This problem is also known as the problem "Mountain Dew Mouth" after the most popular drink in the area.

The main culprit for this is citric acid, which is a preservative that improves the taste and shelf life of these beverages and is found in large amounts in soft drinks. It erodes the enamel and dentin, the nucleus of the tooth.

However, this is not the only reason you should avoid sugar consumption. Namely, sugar overloads the liver and leads to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and insulin resistance, which in turn causes type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. High sugar intake also causes an increased risk of cancer.

Sugar consumption is also the main reason for the development of obesity in children and adults. It reduces levels of satiety and is highly addictive, forcing people to crave more sugar and food.

Over the past three decades, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents, and by 2012, more than 1/3 of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that obese youth are more likely to suffer from some of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea, pre-diabetes, bone and joint problems, and social and psychological problems such as low self-esteem.

In addition, obese adolescents and children tend to be obese as adults, being at risk for stroke, osteoarthritis, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and various types of cancer.

According to the New Zealand Dental Association, parents should give only milk and water to their children in order to avoid further sodium cavities.

Even if these claims are constantly challenged by the beverage industry, dentists and nutritionists warn of the negative effects of soft drinks and all high-sugar products.

The following video will provide information on sugar-free soft drinks and the consequences of their ingredients, the video is in English we recommend that you turn on the subtitles for Portuguese.
